David Keane | He was Professor Emeritus (Theory/Composition) of the School of Music at Queen's University, Kingston. He founded the Queen's Electroacoustic Music Studios in 1970 and served as the Director of the EMS until 1997.

As a composer, his works have generally combined electroacoustic instrumentation with live performance and he has written for dance, theatre, film, and radio, in addition to the concert hall. David Keane has had numerous awards over the years from the Ontario Arts Council and the Canada Council, as well as grants from the Canadian Design Council, the CBC, the National Film Board, Ontario Science Centre, the Bourges (France) Festival, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Cuban Commission for UNESCO, and MAFILM (Hungary). His works have been heard across Canada as well as in North and South America, Europe, and in parts of Asia, and they are recorded on Music Gallery Editions, Cambridge Street Records, Queen's Music, Centrediscs, and Societe nouvelle d'enregistrement.

He is the author of Tape Music Composition (Oxford), and his music is published by Universal Edition (London) and Semar Editore (Rome) and also available at the Canadian Music Centre.

David Keane was born in Ohio in 1943 and he holds three degrees from Ohio State University. Emigrating to Canada in 1967, he became a Canadian citizen in 1974.
